Flight School Instruction Program
-
Signature Solo Program
Solo flight occurs after a student has completed approximately 10-20 hours of dual flight instruction with a Certified Flight Instructor. A student must be able to demonstrate mastery of the fundamentals of flying a single engine plane. This includes successful demonstration and explanation of all checklist items, taxiing, radio calls, take-off, flying the traffic pattern and landing. A student who has been approved for solo flight is able to continue flying solo under the close supervision of the Certified Flight Instructor. Achieving solo flight is a major accomplishment and is a signature program at Untethered Aviation.
-
Private Pilot Certificate
This certificate can be earned with a minimum of 50 hours and allows students to be the pilot-in-command of a single engine airplane. Trained to operate an airplane safely with the proper decision making processes makes this program distinct. With these skills firmly in place, students will be prepared for cross-country flights and ultimately the private pilot check ride. Upon successful completion of this program, students will be permitted to fly a single engine aircraft solo or with others on board.

Instrument Rating
The instrument rating program refers to flying a plane based only on the instruments and not on any outside visual cues. IFR training, as it is known, means you fly as if flying through the clouds. This specific training prepares pilots for precise aircraft control, cockpit management and is integral in obtaining the commercial pilot certification.
-
Commercial Pilot
Becoming a commercial pilot allows one to operate an airplane for compensation. This program is highly specialized in the areas of cross-country flight, weather management, aeronautical concepts and flight planning. This certification allows a pilot to be hired as a professional pilot.

Ground School
Ground school constitutes the academic component of the flight training. Learning the basic theoretical concepts and fundamentals of piloting a single engine aircraft will be taught and applied to the flight instruction. This coursework also prepares aspiring private pilots for the written examination that must be successfully passed when attempting to complete the private pilot certification. This instruction is most often conducted in a classroom space on the airport campus but can also be offered remotely.
